This week's recognition assembly reflected the breadth of our curriculum here at Edmund Waller, showcasing some fantastic historical fiction as well as portraiture and sports skills. Come and have a look!

Please have a look at the wonderful learning from the week before half-term.  Apologies to those who have been searching for it - it had been posted in the wrong part of the website!  We were treated to fabulous artwork, maths and writing.  We were lucky enough to have extra children in the assembly because everyone is working so hard that it's getting more difficult for the teachers to choose who to put forward each week!  Each child chosen was selected specifically because of the extra effort and resilience they displayed whilst completing their learning.  Well done!

This week, we celebrated learning from across the Upper Phase which demonstrated the power of resilience and of learning from our mistakes. Come and take a look at the children's accurate calculation, precise scientific vocabulary, careful observational drawing and effective storytelling! 

Resilience and persistence were the themes of this week's assembly.  The children spoke confidently about what happens when we make mistakes and what happens when we keep trying, even when the learning is very challenging.  

Black History Month 2025

This year’s Black History Monh was  introduced to the children with an assembly on Monday 6th October led by Ms Kalitsi (Y5) and Ms Rennie. This year’s BHM theme is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe. This year, the theme highlights the profound contributions made by Black people, be they leaders, activists, or pioneers who have shaped history, while also looking towards a future of continued empowerment, unity, and growth. Writing was the theme of this week's recognition assembly, with some brilliant examples of precise vocabulary selected for purpose across Years 4 to 6. We also had some observational drawing and maths on show too... take a look!
