At the end of term, we shared the news of the vandalism of the statue in Telegraph Hill park of the anti-slavery campaigner, Equiano. On the very last day of term, we also heard that the missing head of the statue had been relocated. We headed off into the Easter break feeling that we had at least the parts of puzzle, if not the solution.
Then, during the break, on the grapevine, we heard that the head and body were being reunited. This ‘reheading’ was attended by members of the local community and both the current Edmund Waller headteacher, Anne Rennie, and the headteacher at the time of the statue’s creation, Graham Jameson.
